Frequently Asked Questions

The shrines open in late April/early May (Akshaya Tritiya) and close in October/November (Diwali week). Exact dates are announced annually by the temple committees. Best months: May, June, September, October.

Moderate fitness is needed. Kedarnath requires a 16 km trek (or helicopter). Yamunotri is a 6 km trek. Gangotri and Badrinath are accessible by road. We provide ponies and palanquins for those who cannot walk the trekking portions.

The Kedarnath helicopter service is operated by DGCA-licensed operators. Flights run weather permitting (90% reliability in clear season). The 10-minute flight replaces a 6–8 hour trek. Book early β€” seats are limited.
